Access to Dental Care
North Carolina, like a number of states, is facing a significant shortage of practicing dentists. Moreover, problems accessing primary dental care are even more severe in certain rural areas of the state, for individuals with low incomes or dependence on coverage from the state’s Medicaid program, and for people with special needs. The policy forum of this issue reviews short- and long-term options to best meet the oral health needs of North Carolina's population.
