The NCMJ was founded as the North Carolina Medical Journal in 1849 by the North Carolina Medical Society. Since 2002, the NCMJ has been published by the North Carolina Institute of Medicine and The Duke Endowment. Six issues are produced annually, with a circulation of 30,000.
The mission of the NCMJ is to promote health policy analysis and debate among North Carolina residents and other interested groups by publishing commentaries and original research on an array of health-related subjects.
The NCMJ is supported by The Carolinas Center for Medical Excellence, the North Carolina Association of Pharmacists, the North Carolina Dental Society, the North Carolina Health Care Facilities Association, the North Carolina Hospital Association, the North Carolina Medical Society, and the North Carolina Medical Board.
Bibliographic citations and abstracts of articles published in the NCMJ are available on MEDLINE and searchable via PubMed.
